Seattle, WA: Pike Brewing Company announces our spring seasonal beer release: Pike Hive Five. Superb honey from the Salish Lodge & Spa’s bees adds dimension to the biscuity flavor of wholesome malt and aromatic Yakima Valley hops in Pike Hive Five. This beer is light and crisp, with just a slight sweetness and flower like essence of honey. Pike Hive Five pours a light golden color and pairs well with salads, seafood, nuts and cheeses.

Pike Hive Five is a tasty collaboration between Pike Brewing Company and Salish Lodge & Spa. Salish has 120,000 honey bees that live in their apiaries, which produce 600 pounds of superb and local honey every year. Our brewers use this honey to brew Pike Hive Five. This is the first time that Pike Brewing Company has offered Pike Hive Five as a seasonal beer. Up until now it was only possible to enjoy this beer at the Salish Lodge & Spa.

Inaugural Pints In The Pearl, A Celebration Of Craft Breweries From Portland’s Pearl District, Slated For June 4

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland has a new beer festival for the calendar. The Pearl District Business Association has announced the debut of Pints in the Pearl, a one-day craft beer festival that will showcase some of the best beers Pearl District breweries have to offer. The event will take place on June 4 from Noon to 9pm at NW 13th and Everett; the street will be closed to vehicles.
Four craft breweries — 10 Barrel BrewingBridgePort BrewingDeschutes Brewery and Fat Heads Brewery — will each host a station serving three different beers, including one made exclusively for the event, along with a complementary food pairing menu. Each station will be manned by brewery staff, allowing attendees to learn more about the beer from the very people who make and serve it.

“We are so excited to debut this festival in the Pearl District,” exclaimed Carolyn Ciolkosz, director of the Pearl District Business Assn. “Our neighborhood has such a strong history of craft brewing that carries through the present with its award-wining breweries. We are looking forward to bringing them all together to celebrate what makes the Pearl District so special.”
Admission is $20, which includes a limited edition souvenir stainless steel pint and three tokens, valued at $5 apiece. Each token is good for either one 16 oz beer or one food item. Additional tokens may be purchased for $5 apiece. First Craft Beer in a Can to Sponsor Iconic No. 88 in NASCAR Xfinity Series







Longmont, CO & Brevard, NC -- Dale's Pale Ale, Oskar Blues Brewery's flagship brew and first craft beer in a can, has announced a multi-year extension with JR Motorsports (JRM). Dale's Pale Ale will sponsor JRM's No. 88 Chevrolet in three NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) races in the 2016-2017 seasons. 

The No. 88 Dale's Pale Ale Chevrolet will make its first appearance on August 19 at Bristol Motor Speedway with driver Regan Smith. The remaining two race dates will be announced at a later date. Dale's Pale Ale will also be featured on the No. 1 Chevrolet with driver Elliot Sadler as he battles for the series championship each week for the 2016 season. 

Dale's Pale Ale became the first craft beer to achieve NASCAR sponsorship status in 2013 and primary sponsor status in 2015 with the start of its partnership with JRM.

Old Town Brewing Releases Summer of ‘74, Tangerine Ale

Portland, Ore. – (April 7, 2016) Old Town Brewing® (OTB®), a locally owned and operated Portland brewery, announced today the release of it’s newest seasonal brew, a tangerine summer ale just in time for Portland’s warm weather. Aptly named Summer of ’74, the fresh brew honors Old Town’s 42nd year of business.

It was 1974, the Grateful Dead played the Portland Memorial Coliseum, the Rubik’s Cube was invented, and Blazing Saddles was the number one movie. It was an era of simple pleasures and self-identity, and in the midst of it all, Old Town opened its doors for the first time in Portland’s China Town neighborhood. In a celebration of the Old Town’s 42nd anniversary, the brewery is releasing a bold and full flavored tangerine summer ale that plays to the spirit of the seventies.

Brewed with tangerine peel, hibiscus, and New Mexico green chili, the beer is crisp, fresh and balanced with just enough bite to keep you on your toes.  In order to extract the delicate flavors and aromas from these ingredients, it was chosen to add them directly to the beer in cold storage.  This takes longer to make the beer, but drinkers will agree, it’s worth the extra time.  The slow aging allows each ingredient to intermingle with the others, while also allowing each flavor to stand out on its own.

Summer of ‘74 is 5.2 percent ABV, 15 IBU and O.G. of 12.5 – the brewers at Old Town suggest this beer is best enjoyed at 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The brew pairs easily with sunshine and backyard BBQs, Farrah Fawcett flips and flared jeans, and The Loco-Motion bumping in the background.

In honor of the beer’s release and 42nd anniversary Old Town will be hosting a party at the original location, 226 NW Davis Street on April 14, 2016 beginning at 6 p.m. In addition to releasing Summer of ’74, throw back pricing on food specials will be offered, a live DJ will be spinning hits from 1974, and the head brewer will be available for hosted tastings, among other things.

 “Any new beer release is exciting, but this particular release is one we’re especially enthusiastic about,” said Old Town owner Adam Milne. “Summer of ’74 is a tribute to our beginnings, a celebration of where we started and where we are today – it’s a truly of an amazing milestone for our team. Lompoc Brewing Releases Six-Pack Bottles For Two Of Its Popular IPAs

PORTLAND, Ore. – For the first time in its 20-year history, Lompoc Brewing has released six-pack carriers with 12 oz. longneck bottles, featuring Pamplemousse Citrus IPA and C-Note IPA.

Mobile Bottling Source did a first run of 17,000 bottles at Lompoc’s Fifth Quadrant Brewery on March 24, and the six-packs have recently begun appearing on store shelves throughout Oregon and Washington. The six-packs will complement, not replace, Lompoc’s current lineup of 22-oz bottles.

“The craft brewing market in retail stores has become flooded with 22-oz bottles,” explained Lompoc owner Jerry Fechter. “We wanted to stand out, and provide our fans with greater options. Adding six-packs achieved both of these goals.”

carried out the six-pack carrier designs, which were based upon the original label artwork by Woody Adams and Andrew MacKenize of WAAMCo.

C-Note, Lompoc’s flagship IPA, has been around nearly as long as the brewery; it was first brewed for the Horse Brass Pub’s 25th anniversary party in 2001. The beer was called C-Note because of its 100 IBUs. This highly hopped ale has a deep copper to orange hue with a bold aroma of pine and herbal spice. Hints of toffee and caramel are followed by a citrus finish that is dry and refreshingly bitter (6.9% ABV).

Pamplemousse is a deep golden hued, medium-bodied citrus IPA. Four hop varieties, along with real grapefruit juice, build a solid hop bitterness highlighted by citrus notes, both on the tongue and in the nose (5.8% ABV).

The six-packs are currently available at Lompoc’s Fifth Quadrant and Sidebar locations, retailing for $11 in-house; they will be available at all five pubs in a few weeks. Retail pricing varies at grocery stores and bottle shops.

Brewers Association Lists Top 50 Breweries of 2015

Boulder, CO • April 5, 2016 – The Brewers Association (BA)—the not-for-profit trade group representing small and independent craft brewers—today released its annual lists of the top 50 craft and overall brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies, 43 were craft brewing companies.¹

“The top U.S. brewers continue to drive demand, growth, innovation and exponential interest in beers from small and independent brewers,” said Bart Watson, chief economist, Brewers Association. “With a historic record number of breweries in U.S., the top brewers continue to open new markets and expose beer drinkers to a variety of fuller-flavored styles and offerings.”
