Portland brewery releases Paulie’s Not Irish Red Ale in Locations Across Portland and Southwest Washington

Portland, Ore. – (Sept 20, 2016) Old Town Brewing® (OTB®), a locally owned and operated Portland brewery, announced today the release of it’s award winning Irish-style red ale, Paulie’s Not Irish, in 22oz bottles. The new release will be available in locations across Portland and Southwest Washington, including select Safeway, New Seasons, Fred Meyer locations, and various bottle shops, among other locations.

The beer received recognition from the national brewing community after it scored the bronze medal in the 2014 World Beer Cup in the Irish Style Red Ale category, and has remained a brewery staple.  An often lesser-known style of beer, Irish-style reds are increasing in popularity and are a must add to any beer-hounds repertoire.

Why an Irish-style red ale named after someone not being Irish? Simple, the beer name is a playful homage to a past employee of Old Town’s who had to perpetually explain to patrons that his accent was in fact Scottish, not Irish. Paulie's Not Irish is rich in caramel malt flavor and sweetness, but not overpowering due to the balance delivered by the Perle and Mt. Hood hops utilized in the brewing process.  This beer lands at 5.6 % ABV and 30 IBU.  Paulie's Not Irish is an easy drinking beer that you will definitely want to enjoy more than one.

“This beer is a wonderful reflection of our take on classic styles,” said Old Town Brewing owner, Adam Milne. “Paulie’s Not Irish has been in our portfolio for a long time now, and has been well-loved from since we started offering it, so we’re incredibly happy to be able to make it available in bottles. And for those that haven’t tried it, or haven’t joined the red ale train, this is the perfect brew to get your feet wet.”

Old Town Brewing began bottling its award winning beers in April of 2015, and is now available in retail, bottle shop, and tap house locations across Portland and Southwest Washington. Its bottled brews include gold-winning Shanghai’d IPA®, Summer of ’74 Ale, limited edition Mushroom Ale, and now, Paulie’s Not Irish.
