PORTLAND, Ore. – Cascade Brewing will release its Manhattan NW 2014 Project in 750 ml bottles and on draft on Wednesday, April 6 at the Cascade Brewing Barrel House (939 SE Belmont St) and brewery (7424 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy). The beer will also be distributed with limited availability to nearly 30 markets in the US and abroad.

Manhattan NW is a blend of sour quad and blond ales aged in bourbon barrels with sour pie cherries and apricot noyaux. A tribute to the classic Manhattan cocktail, this fan favorite features flavors of bourbon, maraschino cherries, bitter almond and a hint of malt sweetness. The beer weighs in at 9.6 percent ABV.

Bottles will cost $30; draft prices will cost $8 for a glass or $3 for a taster.  The brewery will also be offering vintage draft and bottles to celebrate the new release, including the 2011 and 2013 on draft and the 2013 in bottles.

Cascade Brewing is known for its award-winning sour ales that feature a clean, lactic acid profile produced by a house culture of lactobacillus bacteria. The beers frequently rely on the use of fresh ingredients grown exclusively in the Pacific Northwest, including as cherries, apricots, berries and grapes. Its blending house currently holds more than 1,400 French oak, Kentucky Bourbon and Northwest wine barrels — plus nine foudres (a Flemish word meaning huge oak barrel).
