Bend, Oregon- March 2, 2016- Just 3 months after holding a large scale Grand Opening event at its new production facility in November, Silver Moon Brewing releases three popular beer styles in a 6-pack can format. Several major grocers have already signed on to carry the new packaged offerings, which are available for distribution and purchase as of today.

Known for its arsenal of award winning beers and small batch creativity, Silver Moon Brewing has been in operation since 2000. The brewery is the third oldest in Bend with a current
count of 31 breweries. Since its inception, Silver Moon Brewing has claimed several medals at both regional and national events, including Great America Beer Festival, North American Brewers Association and the Los Angeles International Beer Competition, and the KLCC Brewfest. In September 2015, “IPA 97” was awarded top honors in a blind tasting IPA contest of local breweries, held by Bend’s historic Pine Tavern Restaurant.

“We’re extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished in just 2 1/2 years” said Matt Barrett, Founder and President, referring to the purchase of the brewery with business partner James Watts in June of 2013. “We have a terrific and loyal following, and the launch of cans this week will only strengthen our position in the regional craft beer scene, and fuel further projects for the brand over the next few years,” he added.

The initial can lineup includes what Silver Moon refers to as “A Moon for all Moods”.
Co-owner Watts says “from our light and enjoyable Chapter 2 Casual Ale, to our bold and flavorful Get Sum Pale Ale, and certainly our breakout IPA 97, we’re confident there’s something for everyone here.” Watts quickly added “our 22 ounce offerings aren’t going away however, our Seasonal lineup, Alpha Project Series and Specialties will remain on shelves, and continue to appeal to the more ambitious and adventurous craft beer lover.”

In preparation for this week’s can debut, Silver Moon Brewing launched an entirely new website, ordered a canning line for in-house packaging, and announced plans to hire additional brewers and sales managers. “Washington is a particularly important market for us, and we’re actively looking to fill the critical role of Sales Manager in the Greater Seattle Area”, said Pam Balmuth, the company’s Field Marketing Manager. Greater presence in key markets such as California and Idaho are also in the growth plan for the rapidly growing brewery. The process to determine the best distribution partner in these new regions will begin in Spring.
