The
Washington Brewers Guild presents
2015 WINTER
BEER FESTIVAL
December
4 & December 5 - Hangar 30 at Magnuson Park
(Seattle, WA) November 10, 2015- Washington Brewers Guild will present its
annual Winter Beer Festival in the Hangar 30 at Magnuson Park on Friday,
December 4 and Saturday, December 5. The event will showcase some of the finest winter seasonal
beers brewed by Washington breweries. This year’s festival will feature 54
Washington Brewers Guild members, the biggest brewery lineup to date.
Winter here in the Pacific Northwest is typically dreary and dampening
but that’s exactly what inspires brewers to brew up those robust, delightful
winter beers that warm our bodies and souls during those cold months. Many of
the featured beers are big, full-bodied and flavored, and offer malty, roasty, cholocalety
or caramelly notes that snuggle you. Some are brewed with festive ingredients
such as cranberries, candy canes, toasted pecans, and various spices to get us
into the holiday spirit.
Here are some of the beers that will be pouring at this year’s Winter
Beer Festival. See the full beer list at www.washingtonbrewersguild. org/Events.html.
Winter Warmers— Malty, strong, full-bodied Winter Warmers offer
great comfort and alcohol warmth. Try Bale
Breaker High Camp Winter Warmer, Flying Bike Snow Shield Winter
Warmer, and Big Al Winter Warmer.
Grand Barleywines— Winter seasonal beers tend to be robust with
high alcohol content. Some of the grandest of all are Barleywines- Barrel
Aged Barley Wine by No-Li Brewhouse, Elijah Craig Barrel
Aged Old Scoundrel Barleywine by Sound Brewery, Old Sebastes Barley Wine by
Anacortes Brewery, Old Bawdy by
Pike Brewing and Old Toe Jam Barleywine by Bainbridge Island Brewing.
Sweet Desserts— Skip cakes and cookies and drink your
dessert. Try Oatmeal Cookie Brown Ale by Dick’s Brewing, Dark Persuasion
German Chocolate Cake Ale by Icicle Brewing, S.P.S. Sidewinder
Peppermint Stout (think hot coco and
peppermint schnapps) by Beadslee Public House, and Mexican Chocolate Stout
by Der Blokken Brewery.
Winter Lagers— After a long, cold fermentation these
winter lagers offer smooth comfort: Wonderland by Silver City Brewery, New Trick Barrel Aged
Dopplebock by Hale’s Ales Brewery (a collaboration with Chuckanut
Brewery), U-Bahn Vienna Lager by
Chainline Brewing and Bakke Hill
Black Lager by Fish Brewing.
Holiday Spices— Shake off the winter chills with those
festive beers brewed with various spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger,
coriander, orange peel and chili. Try Beer Nog, a spiced Belgian Ale by Odin Brewing, Holiday Jeer! by Wet Coast Brewing Chai and Chai NoƤle by Elliott Bay Brewing.
