Deschutes Brewery Raises $79,700 For Second Harvest Heartland

Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery set up the world’s largest pop-up pub in Minneapolis earlier this month and raised a total of $79,700 for Second Harvest Heartland. On September 19, the brewery brought its 402-foot custom, transportable bar to Minneapolis’ North Loop, serving 177 kegs to approximately 12,000 people. The one-day-only event donated 100 percent of proceeds to Second Harvest Heartland, one of the nation's largest and most innovative food banks. 
 
Rob Zeaske, CEO of Second Harvest Heartland, said, “Thank you to Deschutes for choosing the Twin Cities for this event and thank you for choosing Second Harvest Heartland to be the recipient of these funds. The money raised will enable Second Harvest Heartland to distribute more than 239,000 meals into the local community.” 
 
With a soft launch in Deschutes Brewery’s hometown of Bend, Oregon and national stops in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago and Minneapolis so far this year, the Street Pub has raised nearly a quarter million dollars for charity.
 
This giant bar is traveling to select locations around the country to benefit the communities where it sets up its 40 taps. Final stops for 2015 include Denver on October 17 and Sacramento on November 14.
