5/4/2015 Portland, OR - Burnside Brewing Co. introduces the first beer in the new Elemental Scale series of one-off limited release beers with
Blueberry
Mint Saison. Released in limited edition 22oz bottles and 1/6 barrel
kegs in Oregon next week the first tapping of Blueberry Mint Saison will
be at the Burnside Brewing Pub this Thursday May 7th, 2015.
The
first of four new beers for the Elemental Scale series, Burnside's
Blueberry Mint Saison is a French style saison that has been kettle
soured to yield an intensely aromatic beer that pays proud homage to
it's rustic roots. Inspired by a Kombucha drink with a similar profile,
Burnside's brewers set out to create a refreshing but complex beer with
an interesting flavor profile. This ale is fermented at slightly higher
temperature than normal with Blueberries and local Honey added at
conditioning along with a cold side infusion of a "mint tea." This gives
the beer a slightly tart and fruity quality with a subtle hint of mint
freshness.
Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, and CaraPils. Hops: EKG's. 6.9% Abv 21.55 IBU's.
Blueberry
Mint Saison, as all Burnside Ales, is unfiltered. This requires an
increased commitment, but pays dividends in the depth, character and
flavor profile of our brews.
