Lompoc Brewing celebrates season of change
with new spring seasonal, Saison de L’Evolution
PORTLAND, Ore. – Lompoc Brewing will release its new spring seasonal, Saison de L’Evolution, on draft and in 22 oz bottles at a party at Sidebar, its barrel tasting room located at 3901 N Williams Ave, on April 21 from 4pm to Midnight.
Saison de L’Evolution, French for “Evolution of the Season,” is a hazy Belgian-style Farmhouse Ale that is dry and crisp with plenty of fruitiness complemented by a spicy bitterness. It’s brewed with dried orange and lemon peel, coriander, candied ginger and a Belgian Farmhouse Ale yeast from Wyeast Lab’s private collection. As the first Saison ever bottled by Lompoc, it represents the brewery’s commitment to change and evolution in the brewing industry and beyond.
Saison
de L’Evolution will be available on draft and in 22 oz. bottles at all
Lompoc pubs as well as in various establishments around the Northwest.
The label, created by local designer Jen Ulrich, features an old
red tractor in a field that is an original painting from local artist
and beer writer John Foyston. Foyston spied the tractor on a hill in
the now Rajneesh-free town of Antelope, Ore., which he passes through a
couple of times every year on motorbike trips.
“There’s not much reason to stop in Antelope — the cafe is sometimes open and sometimes has gas — but I did stop one day to get a couple pics of the tractor,” explained Foyston. “Soon after, I painted it as part of my Western Rustscapes series. It’s one of my favorites.”
This is the second Lompoc label to feature a Foyston original; the label on Old Tavern Rat Barley Wine bottles is a painting of legendary Portland publican Don Younger.
Saison de L’Evolution will also be available in Eugene on April 23 at Growler Guys; at Beermongers in Portland on April 30 as part of a Lompoc tap takeover; and in Seattle on May 6 at a tasting at Beer Junction.
